Color Me Healthy

In 2012, the Center for Training and Research Translation selected Color Me Healthy as one of its research-tested interventions—interventions for which efficacy has been tested in one or more research studies and the findings have been published in the peer-reviewed literature. Research-tested interventions must be effective at improving one or more obesity-related outcomes.

Color Me Healthy is proven to improve fruit and vegetable intake and increase physical activity among four- and five-year-old children in child care and preschool settings across the nation. Data from a randomized controlled trial suggest that, compared to the control group, children who participate in Color Me Healthy are more likely to consume more fruit and vegetables when presented with fruit and vegetable snacks. The increased consumption continued even three months after the program ended. Learn more by visiting
